Ranking and Organizing Agricultural Development in Townships of Fars Province by Using GIS

  Agriculture is one of the most important parts of the country economy that in addition to providing food requirements and raw materials preparation for industry, it has an important role in the political independence of country. Therefore, identifying and proper utilization of natural potential suscebility and improving the capability of agriculture can make a good foundation for national growth and development. For the purpose, the current research has accomplished in 2010 for the aims of organizing agricultural development in Fars Province through identifying and ranking agriculture in townships of this province. In the present research, the extent of agricultural development was analyzed by using Revised Scalogram Analysis Model and employing 24 development indices. Findings indicate that southern townships of Fars Province are located in lower levels of agricultural development. By using geographic information system ( GIS ), ranking of the Province’s townships was shown for spatial analysis of agricultural development status and its organization all over the province and position of each township in agricultural development and developmental plans in agriculture sector were determined .     JEL Classification : Q19
