Determining the economic value of irrigation water through : Optimal cropping pattern for integrated farm and horticulture

Abstract

  This paper develops a linear optimization model for the determination of optimum cropping pattern and economic value of water in three regions. The objective function of the model is the maximum net return of various crops per unit of land and then economic value or shadow price of water is obtained with sensitivity analysis of constraints. The results of this paper show that the estimation of the economic value of water ranges between 470 and 880 Rials. This model has solved with Lindo package under 2002-2003 agricultural data to Shirvan Barzo dam region in Shirvan located in North Khorasan province.
