Abstract

This paper studies the state of comparative advantage of wheat production in all cities of Fars province and then zoning the cities according to rate of their relative advantage. For this purpose, first, scale advantage index (SAI), efficiency advantage index (EAI) and aggregated advantage index (AAI) were estimated for all cities and then zoning the cities using the cluster analysis. The results of this study showed that Fars province's cities have been several relative advantages in the wheat production. So these cities were zoning in five levels with a very high relative advantage, high relative advantage, acceptable relative advantage, low relative advantage and very low relative advantage. Larestan and Lamerd cities had the highest rate of relative advantage in wheat production and Kazeroon and Khorambeed cities had also lowest relative advantage. According to results of theANOVA, among the four factors of climate, only average minimum temperature was impressive in the separation of relative advantage's level of wheat production. Based on zoning the relative advantage of wheat producing in Fars province, planning and support of wheat production is needed.
